You scored as Cultural Creative. Cultural Creatives are probably the newest group to enter this realm. You are a modern thinker who tends to shy away from organized religion but still feels as if there is something greater than ourselves. You are very spiritual, even if you are not religious. Life has a meaning outside of the rational.

I scored as Existentialist.
Existentialism emphasises human capability. There is no greater power interfering with life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes considered a negative and depressing world view, my optimism towards human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and must accept the responsibility.

It would seem that I am a Postmodernist -- 100% even! [I did have a suspicion of my own world view...]
Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies on context and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.

I just thought of my own theory for my church avoidance. I will take this quiz at once. Interesting that you and David are different. That's good.
Cultural creative. I really thought I was going to be idealist.
Paintergirl - nice! Looks like we also have our world views in common...
Do you need a theory of church avoidance? Surely simple good taste would suffice.
I must document my philosophical system - common sense nihilism - at some stage.
Rose we really do have so many things in common. That's why I liked you instantly! And I have to find the article about metal girls and send you.
"Good taste would suffice."
That is super. My over religious family would think otherwise.
This is the thing, lately I've been out of sorts, maybe depressed, maybe feeling sorry for myself, just not exactly myself. I'm not one to turn to God. But, I do need to clear my head and be at peace, so I'm planning a little day trip to a contemporary art museum about an hour away. The building used to be a biscuit factory and it's very beautiful. It's a nice train ride up the Hudson as well.
Now, my church theory is this. Some people go to church to clear the cobwebs, I can barely think inside one. I am very sensitive to everyones thoughts and feelings, and large groups of people who are asking for help, or forgiveness mentally drains me. I don't think I read peoples minds, I'm just very aware. I would not make a good missionary.
You should write up your philosophical system. I think we would all like to see that.
I'm sorry Rose for going on...
Would that be the DIA:Beacon? I've heard that's very much a temple for a secular age - big space, clean lines - which'd suit all that minimalist and conceptualist stuff very well, I'd imagine. And you get a cool train trip to boot...
I'd like to check out Rothko's chapel at some stage. I'm not really into abstraction per se (I suspect that the peculiar nature of postwar American art is related to the peculiarly religious nature of US society), but I do like the idea of the gallery as temple and the idea of art making and viewing as participation in ritual. That historically it's mostly been used as a means of social control doesn't mean it always has to be.
Hmm, I was a dead heat between postmodernist and materialist:

Shouldn't that be a contradiction in terms? But I guess I'm a postmodernist in the cultural sphere and a materialist in the natural sciences. And I don't put any faith in the spiritual (the spirituous, perhasp, but not the spiritual).
I haven't been to the Rothko Chapel, but the Rothko Room in the Tate Modern had me entranced. The subdued lighting had a lot to do with it: the way the paintings emerged out of the gloom as my eyes adjusted to the dark was literally breathtaking.
