hedgies

I didn't know anyone actually kept these little beasts as pets. I wonder if you can train them...

I've been pretty busy with work. Hence the lack of blogging. Going to try to get out tonight to catch a flick. Would like to catch the new Mike Leigh film (always been a bit of a fan) but SOD thinks his films are depressing. Hmmm, will report back later.

I got all enthusiastic today about setting up a vege garden, but the part that requires hard work and lots of time is what puts me off. The upkeep is fun, but digging it up in the first place is a bit of a mission. I've rung a local handyman/gardener who put a flyer in my letterbox and he's coming round tomorrow to quote me on the work. Exciting!

New Mike Leigh film... what's it called? Do you mean Mike Nichols' "Closer" perchance?

It's called "Vera Drake" - showing soon at Rialto. I thought it started last night, but I think it starts tonight. Did you know the World Cinema Showcase programme is out? Quite a few repeats from the 2004 Film Festival, but also some good new films, and a few classics thrown in.

For anyone here in New Zealand considering getting a pet hedgehog, I rang Animates to find out if they had any 'hedgies', or even hedgehog accessories. No luck whatsoever. I think they thought I was taking the piss.

I think a hedgie would make a perfect playmate for the kitten. The quest continues.

I remember seeing something on the telly about a year or so ago about the darling little hedgie. It showed them down a kiwi burrow (or whatever they are called) eating the eggs. They're not always the sweet bug-eating garden variety that we see eating out pet food in the back yard. But I still love 'em. I used to have a pet praying mantis for a while when I was a kid...

Yeah, in that regard they probably fall into the same category as ferrets, rats, stoats, cats, dogs... wait! all our common pets.
