What Post Punk band are YOU?

You scored as Throbbing Gristle. Throbbing Gristle are probably one of the most notorious and controversial bands of all time. Their proto-industrial music is self-consciously confrontational and alienating whilst their lyrics often deal with disturbing subject matter. Their best album is probably 1979's deceptively-named Jazz Funk Greats.

DAMN GOOD quiz, Rose! I thought I'd steal it right away [the usual, you know ;-) ] .... Here's my score:

You scored as The Fall. Manchester's The Fall are one of the most prolific and enduring of the original post-punk bands. Mark E. Smith's surrealist rants and idiosyncratic brand of 'Country & Northern' continue to command a large cult following, their debut, 1979's 'Live at the Witch trials' is as good a place to start as any.

Yay! The Fall are magnificent. Do you have their latest album? It's a goodie - Dave has been listening to it lots. I must get a copy.

I can't believe some of the crazy quizzes they have there on Quiz Farm. It's nuts.

Still haven't managed to be on the old Tagboard at the same time as you, girl.

Here's how I stacked up. I really do like wire but I've never thought of my self as wire incarnate. I had a band that was a cross between Captain Beefheart and The Talking Heads we were called X-Wyng Phyghter. Our one and only album was entitled Viva Lez Vegans.

Go to www.hivestudios.net and head to the unreleased section for a listen.

I have no idea who any of these people are.

I need to be educated.

Whoo hoo. I got The Fall. And doing the quiz is almost as much fun as spotting which question relates to which band. For trainspotters like me, that is.

From one pedant to another, Rose - and you know why I'm doing this - yes, it does seem as though elephant's have long memories - your post's title should be "Which post-punk band..", shouldn't it?

:P

The only thing they're missing is 'You add "-uh" to the end of every word.'

Oh, isn't this one fun, eh? Brings out the music geeks in us all.

Thank you Stephen. Although it's probably an arguable point. Glad to see so many Mark E. Smiths around the place. It's all good.

Rube - cheers for the music. Have been having a listen to it today - lots of fun. The lyrics are cracking me up. (I'm laughing but in a good way, I promise!) Wire incarnate? Well, shit, I hope I'm not Throbbing Gristle incarnate. Fuuurck!

Dave - of course you are The Fall-uh.

Hey, dear Domestic Goddess. Don't forget A. Post-punk is somewhat before your time. B. You have been busy procreating which leaves headpsace for little else. I'm impressed with how you find time to upkeep your blog! You want some new music - mail me and tell me what you like and I'll send you a Music Care Package. Go on! It'll be fun.

Yo Rose! No, I am afraid I do not have The Fall's most recent album. The financial situation here at present does not allow such things, unfortunately :-( But that means I have something nice to look forward to one fine day when I land myself a brilliant job with good wages [drrrreeeam ooon, girl!].

Yes, it's amazing what you can do tests/quizzes on these days. Bloody amazing.

As for the TAGBOARD -- we'll get there *some* day -- I guess you and I do live in completely opposite time dimensions. If I swap my days and nights around, we may figure something out -- but I've had too much coffee this morning to make an attempt at 'night' right now :-)
